Shin Splints - (medial Tibial Stress Syndrome)
Most patients with Shin Splints complain of pain when exercising which is very marked and focused along the inside of your shin bone (tibia).
The pain presents as a dull ache and increases to intense and focused pain particularly when pushing off. In the beginning, pain may only be present during your exercise but in the longer term pain may occur during walking or even while resting.
The area on the inside of the shin may also feel very hard. Shin Splints are a common injury sustained by walkers. We will examine your gait pattern and may prescribe some orthotics or other appropriate remedies to reduce this problem.
